SAFE SPORT

Here at Florida Atlantic Aquatics,

we strive to make your swimmer's protection and safety our highest priority.

By working together as coaches, swimmers, parents, and volunteers we can ensure all USA swimming members are supported in a safe and dependable environment both in and out of the pool.

FAA is a Safe Sport club & abides by USA Swimming Safe Sport rules, including the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy 2.0 (MAAPP)

All FAA athletes and their parents are expected to have read, signed and be familiar with our Team code of conduct and policies. Breaches in the Code of Conduct will be handled by each swimmer's direct coach, Head Coach and/or Team owner at the discretion of the staff.

FAA is fortunate to have access to pools on the FAU Campus, and it is important that our members show respect for this facility and for other users.

We expect all of our swimmers to display sportsmanship and proper respect toward team members, coaches, officials, administrators, fellow competitors, parents, volunteers, the public, and the facilities we use and visit.

The following are prohibited for team members while at practice or meets:

  • Foul language or any form of verbal abuse, including sexist, racist, homophobic, or otherwise inappropriate language..
  • Horseplay or intentional physical contact between swimmers.
  • Fighting or any form of physical abuse, and possession or use of any weapon.
  • Tampering with or causing damage to any facility.
  • Photos, audio recordings, or video recordings in locker rooms or changing areas.
  • Vaping/smoking or possession or use of illegal substances.

Conduct/behavior violations will be subject to any number of consequences, including but not limited to:

  1. Athlete coaching and counseling by coaching leadership
  2. Parent/Coach/Swimmer conference
  3. Temporary suspension from team activities, including practices and meets
  4. Permanent removal from the Florida Atlantic Aquatics Swim Team

As a condition of membership with Florida Atlantic Aquatics, the codes of conduct must be adhered to by all coaches, athletes and parents.

→ Coaches, Athletes and Parents will be asked to be in compliance with USA Swimming Safe Sport's Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP).

"Photo/Video" Policy

"Photo/Video" policies will be in compliance with USA Swimming Safe Sport's Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP).

FAA may wish to take photographs and/or videos (individual and in groups) of swimmers (some under the age of 18) that may include your child during their membership in the club. As a new member, please fill out the "MAAPP Photography Policy Consent Form" to define if you would live to Give Consent or Refuse Consent before we publish and display some photos.

Parents may take photos and videos during practices but please be sensitive to the fact that they will almost certainly include other people's children in their swimsuits as well.

Photos and videos may ONLY be taken from the side of the pool course; per USA Swimming rules, at NO time can photos or videos be taken from behind swimmers on the starting blocks at practices and meets. At meets, photos/videos may be taken only in the host team's specified "camera zones."

"Team Travel" Policy

"Travel" policies will be in compliance with USA Swimming Safe Sport's Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP).

Florida Atlantic Aquatics Club members are expected to abide by our travel policies, which can be viewed below.

Travel policies can and will be updated as necessary and will be distributed to families and swimmers before team trips.

"Parents Pool Deck" Expectations

If parents need to speak with their child's coach, we ask that they please do so before or after practice, and not during practice.

We ask that parents keep the pool decks available for swimmers and coaches to use as needed.

To that end, please note the following:

  • Parents can watch practice from the bleachers.
  • Parents must not interact with the swimmers or the coaches in any way during practice; anyone disrupting practice will be required to move outside the pool fence.

"Parent" policies will be in compliance with USA Swimming Safe Sport's Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP).
